About the project
Description

Abdomminal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are a major cause of death and morbidity. The long latent course of AAA provides a potential opportunity for treatment to prevent expansion. However, the causes of AAA and AAA growth are poorly defined.

What does your project involve?

The research tem will document baseline characteristics, collect biological samples, obtain annual standardized measurements of AAA growth (via the Screening Programmes) and link the cohort with national datasets including HES/PEDW/ISD, ONS/NRS, and CPRD.

Why are you working there?

To achieve the overall sample size in the stud it is necessary to recruit across the UK.

Key outcomes

In this study, the research team will capitalize on a unique opportunity provided by the UK AAA Screening Programmes to recruit and follow-up a large (n=5000) cohort of men with small AAA.
