About the project

R-GNOSIS is a large Europe-wide collaborative made of 19 partners from nine countries which include United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland and Israel, focusing on multi-drug resistant Gram negative organisms (Europe). Workpackage 6 is in the samples stage and focuses on decolonization strategies in Intensive Care Patients.

What does your project involve?

Processing of faecal and respiratory samples from ITU patients twice weekly. Detection and confirmation of Multi-drug Resistance Organisms (MDRO). Transport of isolates to the Netherlands.

Key outcomes

Improve strategies for gut decolonization within ITUs, reducing colonization and infection in vulnerable patients.
