About the project
Description

Antimicrobial Resistance in Gram Negative Organisms - Workpackage 2: POETIC, is a European study to evaluate and further develop currently available Point of Care Tests (POCT) that enumerate and identify Gram negative pathogens and their antimicrobial resistance profiles from urine for better diagnosis of urinary tract infections (UTI).

What does your project involve?

The project involves processing of urine, diagnosis of UTI, susceptibility testing of isolates  and interpreting flexcult images.

Why are you working there?

The purpose of the project is to develop and evaluate cutting-edge interventions to reduce carriage, infection and spread of Multi-Drug resistant Gram-negative Bacteria (MDR-GNB). R-GNOSIS is a large Europe-wide collaborative made of 19 partners from nine countries which include United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland and Israel, focusing on multi-drug resistant Gram negative organisms (Europe). Workpackage 2 focuses on Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) and is in the analysis and paper writing stage.

Key outcomes

Improving UTI therapy through rapid diagnostic.
