Volunteering

Becoming involved in international partnerships as a volunteer does not always require international travel, and there are opportunities to become involved as local volunteers. Here you will find general information on volunteering opportunities. In the Service directory, you will find information on individual organisations offering volunteering opportunities or guidance on international volunteer work.

Health Boards and Trusts

Each Health Board and Trust in Wales has connections with local charities. If you are an NHS Wales employee, it is worth checking the activity that your Health Board or Trust is involved in.

Volunteering opportunities can be explored through professional bodies, such as Royal Colleges.

Health Education England

Pennies from Heaven

Pennies from Heaven allows NHS staff to donate the spare pennies from their pay to selected charities. To find out more and sign up, go to the Pennies from Heaven website.

International Learning Opportunities

The International Learning Opportunities (ILO) programme gives Welsh public and third sector workers the opportunity to work in sub-Saharan Africa on development projects and enhance their leadership skills. Since 2007, the ILO programme has delivered over 130 projects in sub-Saharan African countries, offering Welsh managers and leaders the opportunity to develop their skills and experience whilst contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals to eliminate poverty.
