The grants programme awards funding for sustainable development projects that contribute to effective, responsive and accountable governance with civil society participation. The Commonwealth Foundation offers funding to civil society organisation projects in selected countries for up to three years with a funding ceiling of £30,000 per year. Grant projects must focus on one or more of the following:
- Creative expression
- Capacity development
- Constructive engagement
- Learning and sharing, and/or the SAMOA Pathway for Small Island Developing States.
The Rotary Foundation helps fund humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives with a focus on:
- Promoting Peace
- Fighting Diseases
- Providing clean water
- Saving mothers and children
- Growing local economies.
UN Women is the UN agency for gender equality and the empowerment of women. UN Women handles two main grant programmes: the Fund for Gender Equality, open to women-led civil society organisations, and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women, open to both government agencies and civil society organisations. Both programmes work according to annual calls for proposals and are only available for projects in countries eligible for Overseas Development Aid as defined by the OECD. Individual calls may also highlight further priority country/activities for a specific year.
